"And Leo said, let there be hum. And there was hum, and it was good." Fender 1:3
Good morning. It takes about four minutes, so you'll finish before your coffee gets cold.
—The Daily Shred Crew
In today's issue:
- Fender's new hum killer, and why we're not sold yet
- Johnny Marr's guitars sell for £3.6 million
- A Squier listed for $69,420. Nice.
Front Page
Fender says it finally killed single-coil hum. Did it though?
Fender just announced the Silent System, a passive, battery-free circuit hidden under the pickguard that it says kills single-coil hum. For now it only comes in limited-run American Professional Classic Strats and Teles, at $1,599. How does it actually work? Fender isn't saying (very mysterious, very Fender).
Our line: Hum is annoying. Hum is also on every record you love. We'll believe it when we hear it next to a set of Noiseless in the same guitar.
That's the top of a sample issue.
The rest has four more stories, three deals worth your money, a $69,420 Squier, a Chuck Berry lick with tab, and a chord to name.
